Not your typical suit-and-tie architecture firm. We're the folks who get genuinely excited about old factory bones and the smell of welding torch in the morning.
Every building's got a story, especially the industrial ones that built this city. We don't just restore them - we listen to what they're trying to tell us, then translate that into something people can actually use today.
Back in 2012, two architecture school dropouts and a heritage conservationist walked into a condemned forge building in Toronto's east end. Sounds like the start of a bad joke, right? But something clicked when we saw those massive iron beams and century-old brick.
That building was scheduled for demolition. We spent three months convincing the developer to let us reimagine it instead. Turned it into mixed-use space that kept all the character - exposed beams, original brick, even the crane rails on the ceiling. That project taught us more than four years of formal education ever could.
Now we've done this dance dozens of times. Each project's different, each one's got its own quirks and challenges. And honestly? We wouldn't have it any other way.
The people who make the magic happen (and occasionally argue about load-bearing walls)
Co-Founder & Lead Architect
Started drawing buildings at age 5, been obsessed with old factories since her teens. Theresa's the one who can look at a rusted beam and see exactly what it wants to become. She's worked on over 40 heritage restorations and somehow remembers every single rivet placement.
Favorite project: Converting the old steel mill into community arts center
Can't work without: Her grandfather's drafting compass and really good coffee
Co-Founder & Structural Lead
Former ironworker who went back to school for architecture at 28. Marcus brings real-world metal fabrication knowledge that most architects never get. He's the guy who figures out how to make our crazy ideas actually stand up without falling over.
Favorite project: The bridge workshop renovation where we kept the original forge
Can't work without: His steel-toed boots and classic rock playlist
Heritage Conservation Specialist
The history nerd who keeps us honest. Elena can tell you who made every brick in a building and probably what they had for lunch that day. She's saved more historic details than anyone we know and fights like hell to keep the authentic stuff authentic.
Favorite project: Documenting the original forge tools collection
Can't work without: Her archive of historical building permits
Sustainable Design Coordinator
Our green building wizard who figures out how to make old industrial spaces energy-efficient without losing their soul. David's passionate about proving that heritage and sustainability aren't opposing forces - they're actually perfect partners.
Favorite project: Net-zero workshop retrofit with original skylights
Can't work without: His thermal imaging camera and reusable coffee mug
Interior & Adaptive Reuse Designer
Sarah's got this gift for seeing how spaces want to be used. She can walk through an abandoned factory and immediately envision where the cafe should go, where natural light will hit at 3pm, how people will move through it. Her sketches have made clients cry (in a good way).
Favorite project: The machine shop turned maker space
Can't work without: Her collection of vintage industrial light fixtures
Project Manager & Client Relations
The guy who keeps everything from going off the rails. James translates our architect-speak into normal human language, keeps contractors happy, and somehow manages to keep projects on schedule even when we discover surprise structural issues (which is always).
Favorite project: Every one that finishes on budget
Can't work without: His color-coded spreadsheets and sense of humor
Yeah, sounds basic, but you'd be surprised. We're there in our work boots, getting dusty, talking to the crew, catching problems before they become expensive nightmares.
Every building's got its own personality, its own challenges. We don't have a standard playbook - we figure out what works for YOUR space, not what worked for the last guy's.
Other firms run from complicated industrial projects. We run towards them. The weirder the structural challenge, the more excited we get.
We're not gonna promise the moon when you've got a satellite budget. We're honest about costs upfront and really good at finding creative solutions that don't break the bank.
We're always up for tackling interesting projects - especially the ones that make other architects nervous. Got an old industrial building that needs some love? A modern forge space that needs to work harder? Let's talk about it.
